(Da BBC – 29 agosto 2017)

Baghdad. Iraq and Jordan reopened their only land border on Aug. 30, BBC reported. The crossing, known as the Turabil border crossing in Iraq and the Karama border crossing in Jordan, has been closed for two years because of the Islamic State’s presence on the Iraqi side. Reopening it shows that Iraqi officials have some confidence in their grasp of the security situation in Anbar province. For both Iraqi and Jordanian economies, the reopening of the land border is also an achievement for resuming trade. Still, keeping this road secure and policing the black market will be challenging.
