NATO: finnish President visits JFC Naples

NAPLES. Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, visited JFC Naples, where he met the Commander, Admiral Munsch and members of staff. The President was briefed on collaboration between Finland and JFC Naples for security across NATO and specifically in JFC Naples area of operation.

“It was a pleasure to visit JFC Naples today and hear more about its operations. NATO’s 360-degree approach is key to the security of the whole Alliance”, said President Niinistö.

“It was an honour to host the President of our newest NATO ALLY here in Naples; we had the opportunity to discuss the ‘NATO 360’ overview in Europe, Africa and the Middle East – said ADM Stuart Munsch, Commander, Allied Joint Force Command Naples – Finland is an important ally in the security of the NATO Alliance and participant in multiple missions overseen by JFC Naples, most notably Kosovo Force and NATO Mission Iraq”.

It was the President’s first visit to JFC Naples since Finland became the 31st member of the NATO security alliance.

“This has been the fastest accession process in NATO’s modern history”, said NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg during Finland’s accession to NATO April 2023.

Finland’s Armed Forces are highly trained and highly capable. Its national resilience is second to none.

Finland supports two of JFC Naples key missions in both NATO Mission Iraq (NMI) and Kosovo Force (KFOR).
